Brought up in Mumbai, Sonali was never inclined towards photography initially, but had a love for travel and a curiosity about places and people. Moving to Hong Kong 15 years ago actually pulled her closer to India and now her wanderlust is fairly insatiable.
Sonali has a soul connection with Kashi – A Mystical city she calls it ‘My City’. After numerous visits to this soul city, she observed a lot of people praying and a lot less complaining. On every visit she would look at the beautiful morning light in the alleys and lanes of Varanasi and penned down thoughts that even a small amount of light can change the way we feel about darkness. Holding on to Faith and clinging on to hope in difficult times there comes a sudden clarity- a clarity of the power of the unknown.. the real faces of people who wore masks in our lives were revealed. It shows us the reality we never want to see. However, there is always that glimmering light in the dark and that is the Light of Hope and Faith… together we cling to this light and pray..

Known as the city of Lord Shiva, the god of creation and destruction, it’s believed that anyone who dies in Varanasi will be liberated from the cycle of reincarnation. Even a wash in the Ganges River is said to cleanse away all sins.
